MyHR: Handling interpersonal conflict at work

What to expect

Do you find conflict uncomfortable, and want better tools and strategies for responding to challenging or difficult situations? Most humans don't enjoy conflict, and especially in Western cultures, we don't get a lot of training, support, or guidance to help us understand how to have difficult conversations; both in our professional and personal lives.

This can lead to poor communication, passive aggression, resentment, unresolved tensions, and ultimately ineffective working relationships.

In this event/workshop Chief MyHR Evangelist and HR expert, Sylvie Thrush Marsh, will explore the various scenarios where interpersonal conflicts commonly arise, and equip you with effective communication strategies to help you approach conflict constructively, foster healthy work environments, and improve your professional (and personal) relationships.

You’ll learn how to:
  • Identify common sources of interpersonal conflict

  • Identify your own sensitivities and manage your emotions during conflict or tension

  • Give someone uncomfortable feedback

  • Receive uncomfortable feedback

  • Have a courageous conversation with a direct report, peer, or manager
